Magen David Adom in Israel
has finally been admitted as the 185th Member of the
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
The decision was taken at an Extraordinary Session of the
Federation's General Assemby held in Geneva on June 22nd 2006.
 
One Magen David Adom - Two Emblems!
Magen David Adom enters the ranks of the International Red Cross Movement with its emblem - the Red Shield of David and will not be required to use either the Red Cross or Red Crescent emblems. The Red Cross Movement has adopted a third, neutral, emblem - the crystal.
 
 
Inside Israel
MDA ambulances will continue to proudly bear the Red Shield of David,
(as shown left) MDA workers and volunteers will continue to bear the
Red Shield of David on their uniforms.

 
 
Outside Israel
ONLY when MDA is called upon to provide humanitarian relief outside Israel
- in situations such as earthquakes, floods and other disaster situations, will it use the Red Crystal with the Red Shield of David either within or beside it.
 
 
 
Magen David Adom in Israel did not relinquish, will not relinquish
and was not asked to relinquish - the Red Shield of David.
It has been our emblem for the past 75 years and will remain so into the future!
